Site Superintendent

Position Description

Currently, The Ironstone Building Company has an opportunity for a Site Superintendent to join our team in London, ON.

Key Responsibilities

Construction site

  • Coordinate work schedules and assign work to staff
  • Provide daily updates on project status to all staff and facilitate daily meetings
  • Ensure all reports, records, timesheets and documentation is submitted on time
  • Approve trade partner invoices for payment
  • Order material from suppliers
  • Review and revise changes in drawings and plans
  • Ensure after hours and weekend security is in place for construction site
  • Responsible for performance evaluation and career development of staff
  • Responsible for Health and Safety requirements as per Ministry of Ontario Labour regulations

Financial accountability

  • Continuously pursue cost effective alternatives to improve financial performance in all areas
  • Accountable for allowance budgets

Management & leadership

  • Supervise, train, and provide direction on all work performed by trade partners, site staff, and suppliers
  • Build, manage, and maintain a high performance team through effective talent recruitment, coaching, and development
  • Set high standards, establish accountabilities, and measure performance
  • Inspect work site continuously to ensure all staff and trade partners abide by Ministry of Ontario Labour regulations
  • Ensure site staff complies with Ironstone’s high-level of customer service and that site is always neat and tidy
  • Other duties as requested by management

Prerequisites

Education

  • High school diploma required
  • College or university diploma an asset (i.e. architectural, construction management)

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in the construction industry as a supervisor

Skills, knowledge & abilities

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint), Outlook
  • Knowledge of the framing trade is an asset
  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Must have great attention to detail
