You’ve tackled the dirt on the kitchen cabinets and the dust on the baseboards, and now you’re ready to take on the outside of your home. After months of bad weather your house probably needs some TLC – here’s where to start:
1. Clean the windows
Nothing refreshes the look of your home like clean, sparkly windows. Take off the screens and give them a wash if you can. For any windows that are hard to reach, call a professional.
2. Inspect and clear the gutters
Winter storms leave debris in your gutters that can block the flow of rain water. There are professionals who can tackle this mess, along with your windows.
3. Have your roof inspected
Notice any missing shingles? Call an expert to check out the roof of your house and make sure it’s in tip-top shape.
4. Get your deck ready for the warm weather
When the warm weather finally arrives, you want to be ready to enjoy it. Sweep and wash the deck and any stonework you have in the yard, and don’t forget the patio furniture!
5. Clean and repair the fence
While scrubbing the mud off your fence, check for any damage the winter weather may have caused.
6. Wash your exterior doors
What’s the first thing guests see when they come over? The front door. Make sure it’s clean and give it a fresh coat of paint, if necessary.
7. Clean the welcome mat
Dirt and salt can make the front mat look dull and worn. Give it a clean or if it’s too damaged from the winter weather, get a new one.
